Eternit collection and transport: safe remediation and removal

Before being transported to Eternit disposal centers, the material must be appropriately packaged on pallets, encapsulated to prevent the dispersion of asbestos fibers, and secured with plastic film.

Eternit, composed of various minerals, was previously used to make products such as roofing, chimney flues, water tanks, water pipes, and corrugated sheets. In its compact form, it does not pose a significant health risk.

The danger associated with asbestos occurs when asbestos fibers fragment naturally or through human action, releasing themselves into the air.

The thinnest and lightest fibers can remain suspended in the air for hours or days and, if inhaled, can cause the formation of melanomas.

Therefore, the abandonment and dumping of asbestos cement, as well as other hazardous waste, are prohibited pursuant to Article 192 of Legislative Decree 152/2006. Violations of this provision are subject to significant administrative and criminal penalties. Thanks to Franchini S.p.A., this risk is avoided by operating safely and adhering to all applicable regulations.
